"While working abroad in the early 80's, an image painted by Grant Wood came to my attention. It was carried in a German weekly illustrating an article about things quintessentially American. "The painting was Spring In Town and had been done in 1941 as a front cover illustration for The Saturday Evening Post. "It was a time of homesickness and nostalgia in that far-off place, and this painting struck me immediately. Not surprisingly, it had been intended to remind Americans of those good qualities worth cherishing in the United States. It was the last painting done by Grant Wood, but it lead me back to many others. "In these pages, paintings which depict small, classic buildings are featured. This art has had a strong influence on my love for TinyHouses." To learn more about Grant Wood, start with this web site: http://xroads.virginia.edu/~MA98/haven/wood/home.html | ||||||||
