This isn't the only site to document America's fascination with tiny houses. Actually, the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborne, Michigan documents all things related to the industrialization of America, and these little roadside cabins under the "Best Western" sign were an enabling factor in seeing our country by automobile.

These structures were about ten feet wide and fifteen feet long. There was room for a double bed, a dresser and a chair. This "motor hotel cabin" was of a vintage which pre-dated television, or at least television on the road.

Wouldn't it be great if all early examples of folk architecture could be so well preserved within the confines of a museum!

To the right in the second image, it's possible to see the successor to the motor court cabin: a Holiday Inn concrete and glass module. All function, no charm.
