The H.E.L.P. House (Housing Every Last Person) was designed by Carib Daniel Martin and Rob Bragan. They built it in a weekend with the help of neighbors having been inspired by the need of displaced persons following Hurricane Katrina. To read about their professional qualifications, see the press release. The HELP House is a prototype. Unless it is chosen by a municipality or a government agency as part of the solution for the Gulf Coast, it may not leave Martin's driveway. This tiny house is a reminder of an important focus for this web site. It's a small, sufficient structure designed for people to live in during a time of need. It's an echo of the earthquake shacks built following the San Francisco earthquake in 1906. Should quantities of these well built structures ever be built following a natural disaster, it wouldn't be surprising if some of them also survived a hundred years. It doesn't hurt that the design, while modest, immediately suggests its purpose, and that's a style tiny house lovers appreciate. Find more information at these links: | |||||
