Here's a great, old vacation snapshot of a summer cottage. The back of the picture has a hand written notation: "July 3, 1939 Hill Top Cabains, Michigan" The legend over the door says, "Roxbury." There's a rocking chair on the porch, and the front door is invitingly half open. This is a nostalgic picture. In 1939 the depression is not quite over; unemployment is still greater than 17%. World War II will begin before Labor Day. Spencer Tracy won the Oscar for Boys Town while Bette Davis did the same for Jezebel. Albert Einstein wrote to President Roosevelt warning that uranium might be used to create an atomic bomb. The comic book Batman appears on news stands. But someone was on vacation the day before Independence Day enjoying their summer holiday. July in Michigan can be hot and humid. Hopefully there was a breeze at the top of that hill, and perhaps there's a lake nearby. In Michigan there's always a lake nearby. It looks as though the width of the cabin is about 10 to 12 feet which suggests a depth of about 16 feet including the porch. The overhang above the porch has no window, so there's probably no loft.
