This is the tiny house which originally stirred thought for the collection of images and information on the subject. In the experience of the writer, this was the first structure known as a "study cabin".

To devote a single, self-contained building to the purpose of study suggests many good reasons to build. It could be placed a distance away from the main structure for privacy and quiet. It may contain only those items necessary for serious contemplation. It could be the location for writing one's next book.

The study cabin is fitted so tightly to its location, it is difficult to make photographs. Only steps away from the water's edge on two sides and snuggled against tree and shrub on the others, the cabin is almost obscured from any vantage point, as in picture three.

Nevertheless, from within the view is exactly what would be expected of the hermit's island hideout. Lake views can be had from three sides.

A trail to the right of the door leads back to the main house; to the left is a trail leading to one of the sleeping cabins. The same trail leads to all the structures on the island and crosses the tiny meadow where sermons composed in the study cabin were delivered on summer Sundays.
