These shake-sided rental cabins have been a fixture for many years in the town of Northport, Michigan. Northport is near the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, the "little finger" of Michigan's lower peninsula. A short walk from the sandy beaches of Northport Bay, which is part of Grand Traverse Bay, these tiny houses are not directly on the water but protected by a forest of spruce trees. Each cabin has at least one double bed and a sofa bed, a small but functional kitchen with refrigerator and stove, a private bath with shower and a dining table sufficient for two should weather keep visitors inside. Each cabin has a picnic table and chairs for dining outdoors along with a grill for cooking. The accommodations have been described as having the necessities of a tourist cabin: a faint mustiness which will never completely go away, "deep valley beds" for rolling to the center unassisted in your sleep, etc. These are accommodations for the truly romantic tiny-house lover. |
